Embodying the spirit of social responsibility and consolidating humanitarian values, students from the Optics Techniques Department at Al-Farabi University organized a humanitarian and voluntary visit to the (Iraqi Home for the Elderly), aimed at providing healthcare and moral support to this cherished group.
Comprehensive Vision Screenings: The visit included performing accurate and comprehensive vision screenings for the residents using the latest advanced equipment and technologies, under the direct supervision of the department’s specialized faculty. Students worked on diagnosing various visual conditions and providing the necessary medical consultations to improve their visual efficiency.
Medical and Social Support: The initiative was not limited to the diagnostic aspect; it also involved addressing several essential visual needs and providing integrated medical recommendations that contribute to improving their daily quality of life and alleviating their suffering.
Linking Academia with Humanity: Organizers emphasized that this visit is part of the department’s strategy to link academic curricula with practical field application, while focusing on instilling the spirit of volunteer work in students to become true builders of society across its various segments.
