Faculty members and students from the Department of Accounting and Banking Sciences – Al-Farabi University participated in the Job Fair and the 9th Financial and Banking Services Conference, held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Iraq and the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament. The event took place on February 26–27, 2025, at Dijla Village, with the presence of several public and private banks, as well as Iraqi and Arab financial companies.
The conference was attended by Professor Dr. Hanaa Abdul Ghafar, Head of the Department, along with Professor Dr. Osama Al-Aani, Assistant Lecturer Aya Hassan, Assistant Lecturer Noora Sabri Shukr, and financial expert Shaker Salman. A group of students also engaged with representatives from the Central Bank of Iraq, Al-Rafidain Bank, Al-Rasheed Bank, Al-Nahrain Islamic Bank, and the Securities Commission, where they asked insightful questions about the financial and banking sector.
Additionally, faculty members established agreements with participating institutions to organize scientific visits and student training programs, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education – SDG4), by providing opportunities for lifelong learning. The participation also contributed to Indicator 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration with government entities and civil society organizations to discuss financial sustainability.
