Mission

The Department of Medical Optical Techniques at Al-Farabi University aims to prepare scientifically and professionally qualified technical personnel in the field of visual examination and diagnosis. This is achieved through an interactive educational environment, modern curricula, and advanced practical training, with a focus on scientific research, community service, and contributing to the development of the visual healthcare system in Iraq.

Objectives

1. Prepare qualified technical staff in medical optics capable of practicing the profession with high efficiency and equipped with the necessary theoretical knowledge, clinical, and technical skills.
2. Develop educational and training curricula in line with scientific and technological advancements in optical techniques and modern medical equipment.
3. Promote a culture of applied scientific research and encourage faculty and students to produce research that supports the field and improves visual healthcare.
4. Activate the department’s role in community service through free vision screening campaigns, health awareness programs, and collaboration with local health institutions.
5. Establish academic and professional partnerships with reputable hospitals, optical centers, and universities locally and internationally to exchange expertise and enhance training and employment opportunities.
6. Provide a modern and stimulating educational environment based on interactive learning, e-learning, and hands-on training using the latest technologies and equipment.
7. Instill professional and ethical values in students, promote teamwork, respect for patient privacy, and a sense of social responsibility.
