Following the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and within the framework of the Government Program for Combating Drugs, the College of Arts at Al-Farabi University organized an awareness lecture titled: “The Preventive, Educational, and Awareness Role of Universities in Countering the Drug Problem.”
Activity Details: The seminar was held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Karim Abed Sager (Associate Dean of the College of Arts). The lecture covered the definitions of drugs and addiction, types of substances based on production and effect, and the devastating impact on individuals and society.
Key Recommendations and Strategy: The session concluded with a comprehensive strategic roadmap for educational institutions, including:
- Academic Integration: Including drug awareness in curricula and conducting field research on the dimensions of the problem.
- Student Engagement: Utilizing student activities, sports, and theatrical productions to fill leisure time with constructive goals.
- Psychological Guidance: Activating psychological and educational counseling units to monitor and support students’ well-being.
- Institutional Cooperation: Coordinating with regulatory bodies and community organizations to ensure a safe, drug-free campus.
- Future Stability: Emphasizing the importance of providing job opportunities for graduates
