Al-Farabi University won second place in the chess championship, which it hosted in cooperation with government and private universities and colleges, and which was sponsored by the Student Activities Department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
(67) public and private universities and colleges participated in the tournament, which was held in the closed sports halls at the University of Technology.
One of the gold medals went to the student Sadiq Mohi Khalil, and the bronze medal went to the student Hawraa Moayed from the Al-Farabi University team.
It is noteworthy that the tournament was supervised by an international professional team from the Iraqi Chess Federation.
This activity comes within the annual curriculum scheduled for the Student Activities Unit, through which the university seeks to uncover and hone students’ talents.
