In a testament to academic excellence and international research collaboration, Professor Dr. Saad Ahmed Jafar, a faculty member in the Department of Oil and Gas Refining Engineering at Al-Farabi University’s College of Engineering, achieved a significant scientific milestone. In collaboration with research teams from Tikrit University, the University of Mosul, and the University of Pannonia in Hungary, he successfully published a joint study in a highly ranked international journal.

Publication and Journal Details:

  • Research Title: “Photocatalytic diesel desulfurization using Fe-modified Beta zeolite in a UV-assisted stirred slurry photoreactor: performance and dynamic analysis.”
  • Journal: (Journal of Porous Materials), published by the renowned international publisher (Springer Nature).
  • Scientific Ranking: The journal is indexed within Scopus and Clarivate databases, ranked in the first quartile (Q1), with an Impact Factor of 3.2 and a CiteScore of 5.5.

Study Significance and Outcomes: The study focused on developing an advanced photocatalyst as a sustainable, low-energy alternative to traditional Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) processes. The research utilized Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to analyze flow behavior and optimize operating conditions inside the photoreactor. This innovative approach achieved an outstanding desulfurization efficiency of 95.45%, significantly enhancing the potential for producing cleaner fuel that aligns with modern environmental standards.
