Al-Farabi University Hosts Central Seminar on “Electronic Extortion” and Prevention Methods in Collaboration with the College of Law

The Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Farabi University Presidency, in collaboration with the College of Law, organized a central seminar titled “Electronic Extortion” on the morning of Monday, December 15, 2025.

The seminar aimed to raise legal and technical awareness regarding the dangers of cyber extortion (blackmail), a growing threat to the social fabric, with a specific focus on the risks faced by women. Discussions highlighted methods of prevention and digital immunity, encouraging victims to break the silence and report incidents immediately. This initiative underscores the university’s cooperation with the Ministry of Interior to protect society and hold perpetrators accountable.

The session concluded with a set of critical preventive recommendations, including:

  • Protecting digital privacy and refraining from sharing sensitive personal information or photos.
  • Securing online accounts with strong passwords and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
  • Avoiding interaction with anonymous accounts or suspicious links.
  • The importance of immediately reporting any extortion attempts through official channels.
