Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustansiriyah University, Prof. Dr. Safaa Taqi Al-Isawi, the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the College of Science held a specialized scientific workshop today, Sunday, titled “Robotics Development and Programming.” The event was organized in close cooperation with Al-Farabi University, with the participation of a group of faculty members and students.
In his opening speech, Dr. Al-Isawi stated that organizing this workshop aligns with the university’s vision to support modern specializations and foster an environment of innovation. He praised the joint efforts between the College of Science and Al-Farabi University, noting that academic collaboration with peer institutions contributes significantly to developing scientific research, exchanging expertise, and updating curricula to keep pace with global technological advancements.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Science, Prof. Dr. Mithaq Talib Katea, confirmed that the workshop represents a significant step towards enhancing the college’s applied capabilities, pointing out that the college is working to adopt innovative scientific projects that support the state’s digital transformation goals.
Highlighting the partner institution’s role, the Scientific Assistant to the President of Al-Farabi University, Prof. Dr. Mazin Al-Hakeem, emphasized that Al-Farabi University is keen on expanding horizons of joint cooperation, particularly in the fields of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, due to their pivotal role in advanced scientific fields and community service.
The Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Dr. Mohanad Tahrir, explained that the workshop included both theoretical and practical sessions on robot programming and development mechanisms, in addition to training students on implementing practical models using modern techniques. The workshop also featured a welcoming display presented by smart robots, demonstrating their ability to interact and execute various human commands effectively.
