Al-Farabi University Hosts Scientific Workshop on “The Future of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)”

The Department of Unmanned Aerial Systems Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Farabi University, organized a specialized scientific workshop on Saturday, November 29, 2025, titled “The Future of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).”

The workshop aimed to highlight the latest technological innovations in the design and manufacturing of drones, as well as to explore the future prospects of this vital sector and its growing impact on engineering and technological fields.

The event featured distinguished academic experts from the University of Technology, including:

  • Dr. Ali Hassan Al-Mukhtar – Department of Aircraft Engineering, College of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Eng. Shaker Mohammed Mahmoud – Department of UAV Systems Engineering, College of Electromechanical Engineering.

During the sessions, the speakers covered several key topics, most notably:

  • Modern manufacturing techniques for UAVs and their essential components.
  • Advanced mechanisms for designing drone parts and programming control systems.
  • Future trends in the development of UAV systems and their modern applications.

Both speakers emphasized the critical role that drones currently play across various engineering, industrial, security, and service sectors. They also stressed the importance of enhancing scientific research and technical development within Iraqi universities to keep pace with global advancements in this field.

The workshop was held in Hall P44 of the College of Engineering and was attended by a distinguished group of university faculty members and students from the department, who enriched the discussions with their scientific insights and constructive inquiries.
