On Monday, May 5, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Habib Kashmar, Head of the Department of Cybersecurity at Al-Farabi University, participated in the First Forum on Localizing Global Cybersecurity Standards, held at Al-Mansour Melia Hotel – Qurtuba Hall.
The event was organized under the supervision of BHTC.Firm for IT and Smart Solutions, in cooperation with Bayt Al-Hikma for Training and Consulting, and sponsored by the Iraqi Communications and Media Commission.
The forum welcomed a distinguished group of cybersecurity and digital transformation experts, along with representatives from civil society organizations, government ministries, private sector companies, and public and private universities.
The primary goal of the forum was to discuss global cybersecurity standards and explore methods for adapting and applying them within the local Iraqi context, in order to enhance the protection of the national cyberspace. Several key topics related to digital transformation and its challenges were also discussed, concluding with a set of recommendations to strengthen Iraq’s digital infrastructure.
