Academic Promotions Seminar by the Cybersecurity Department at Al-Farabi University in Collaboration with Al-Nahrain University

The Cybersecurity Department, in collaboration with the College’s Continuing Education Center and Al-Nahrain University, held a scientific seminar on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, titled “Academic Promotions.” This event was part of the cooperative efforts between the two universities and was led by:

• Prof. Dr. Ban Nadim Dhannoon, Head of the Central Promotions Committee at Al-Nahrain University
• Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Marhaj Radi, from the College of Science at Al-Nahrain University
• Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Habib Kashmar, from the Cybersecurity Department at Al-Farabi University

The seminar aimed to achieve several objectives, including:

• Enhancing the quality of scientific research.
• Informing faculty members about academic promotion guidelines to ensure timely processing of applications.
• Adhering to guidelines to reduce errors and minimize the need for paper-based communication.
• Elevating the standards of Iraqi journals and including them in international indexing databases.

The workshop covered three main topics:

1. First Topic: Reviewing the key points of Tables 1 and 2, presented by Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Marhaj.
2. Second Topic: Discussing the ministry’s decisions and guidelines regarding academic promotions, presented by Prof. Dr. Ban Nadim.
3. Third Topic: Addressing the transition to electronic academic promotions and the ministry’s directives on moving from paper-based to digital systems, presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Habib Kashmar.
