Laboratories of the Department of Petroleum and Gas Refining Engineering
- Chemistry Laboratory:
This laboratory includes various chemical experiments in general, organic, and analytical chemistry. It covers the preparation of aspirin, acids, and other substances using different glass laboratory tools. The laboratory is utilized by first-year students in both the first and second semesters. Students are introduced to the laboratory’s safety and working conditions, proper and appropriate use of chemical tools, and familiarization with chemicals for simple to moderate preparations and reactions. The Chemistry Laboratory conducts research in analytical and organic chemistry, including preparations, tests, and reports.
- Thermal Dynamics Laboratory:
This laboratory conducts experiments related to thermal dynamics. It is used by third-year students for one semester according to the prescribed curriculum.
- Experimental Lab:
The Experimental Lab consists of the Heat Transfer Lab, Mass Transfer Lab, and Industrial Units Lab. It contains specialized devices in the field of chemical engineering such as distillation, absorption, filtration, adsorption, sieve analysis, and heat exchange.
- Process Control Laboratory:
This laboratory is used by fourth-year students and focuses on practical applications of kinetics in mass and heat transfer processes, as well as fluid mechanics. It includes experiments that control variables such as temperature, liquid level, flow rate, concentration, and pH using an electronic system connected to a computer.
These laboratories serve to enhance students’ practical skills and theoretical understanding in the field of petroleum and gas refining engineering.
